The content of this blog focuses on local and national (USA) issues and since Christianity is followed by 90% of the people here that is why this blog highlights problems with Christianity when called for.

There is an International Humanist group that deals with world issues. Check out http://www.iheu.org/

Christianity lives in the past and that is why these battles come up and if the majority of the speakers for Christianity and the silence of their followers wasn't so much about their hypocrisy then we Humanists wouldn't have to point it out from time to time.

Why does Humanism get so upset about Christianity. Don't be so parochial spending time on Rick Warren (who will be flavour of the month today and gone tomorrow) look at the big picture. The faith that shapes our nations and their policy today more than any other is - Islam. It drives our miliatary policy, and powers our social standards (if someone ripped up a Bible on TV who would care, but if that were done with a Koran ...). Could it be that Humanist thinkers are at heart a cowardly, having a world view but only defending it against those they know won't fight back. Or could it be that they suffer the same flaw as western Christianity in that they spend most of its time fighting the battles of the past rather than living in the present? Either way Humanism needs to have the courage to live out its beleifs on the world stage, not like a bully picking off soft targets.
