iHumanism: An Internet Humanist Community

What's New at iHumanism

June 30, 2005 -- Some changes: Humanism Expressed has been closed due to lack of upkeep. I have been writing for a blog I created that has a wider audience than just Humanists. Secular Left is an attempt to counter the religious conservative bias and spin passing as news. Also the Freetopia e-zine has gone on extended vacation. No one has sent me content. I am still accepting articles etc... and will publish a new issue when I feel I get enough content to justify the time to create an issue. Many of the special e-mail lists I created a few months ago have been closed due to a lack of interest.

May 15, 2005 -- Converting pages to new look and style. The old version had been around for several years. Created new masthead graphics for the main and section pages and a smaller version for a bread crumb feature on inside pages. Removed links to the guestbook - comments should be left in the forum.

February 9, 2005 -- First update of the new year. Moved the forum board to the iHumanism webserver. Moved and added to the e-mail lists hosted by iHumanism. General refresh of major pages. More to come.

November 18, 2004 - General updating including a redo of the search script and adding of stats tracking code. Fall Freetopia is now online for download.

July 15, 2004 -- Summer issue of Freetopia is now available. Removed the Worldlingo.com translate form since they now charge for the service. Sorry.

April 29, 2004 -- Something as an experiment. I installed a PHP based website forum for those who would like to leave comments or discuss topics posted on the site.

April 16, 2004 -- The debut of Freetopia has arrived. It is available for download today.

April 12, 2004 -- Added a new essay titled Animal Rights, Anthropomorphism and Traumatized Fish by Alistair Robinson and started work on the dbut issue of Freetopia.

January 19, 2004 -- iHumanism announces a new project called Freetopia. It is an e-magazine for expressing the practical application of the Humanist philosophy in our daily lives. Check out the web page for Freetopia for more information.

December 4, 2003 -- I have changed the design of the Humanism Expressed sub-web into a Weblog format. Commentary will be text only, but the older audio commentary will still be available for now.

February 10, 2003 -- First update of 2003. Since my Presidential duties to my local Humanist group are over, I plan on working on this site more. To that end I posted 2 - yes, 2 - new articles. One is an essay in response to another essay on Humanism I read. The second is an issue article about separation of church and state.

May 3, 2002 -- Continuing to finish the small details to complete the move to the Humanists.net servers. Added Humanism Expressed back to the site. Since I don't have access to a free Real Server the audio files will now only be mp3 files. Updated the script used to search the site and added an Advance search page.

April 27, 2002 -- Moved the site to another server so that it has its own address. It is being hosted by Humanists.net. Due to a lack of Real Audio support I had to remove Humanism Expressed for the time being. It may return as a text only site for my comentary. I am also in the process of modifing some of the pages to fit the new host and limited feature set they offer free sites. I now plan to work to build the site out more. Oh and I have closed the iHumanism webring for now as well.

September 24, 2001 -- It has been a while. Added a new essay about the events that happened in New York city on September 11. Updated webring script.

September 10, 2000 -- Added new commentary to Humanism Expressed. Moved iHumanism Ring to a script on this server since the radical change in Webring at Yahoo!

July 28, 2000 -- Added a new essay to the essay section. Also started an iHumanism webring to connect related websites and became a member of two other rings. Also check out the new E-mail lists section that has links to e-mail lists affiliated with iHumanism.org.

May 20, 2000 -- The Issues section is now open with the first post on Human Rights by the webmaster. Also adjusted some of the page elements for a more consistant look and to add some elements I forgot when I first created the pages.

May 15, 2000 -- Moved my project Humanism Expressed to the iHumanism server and updated the links. Also added Atomz search engine to the site.

May 8, 2000 -- The move to the new domain seems to complete. All forms have been changed to the new server and guestbook links have been added to all section pages.

May 5, 2000 -- iHumanism now has its own webspace and domain name at http://www.ihumanism.org . Change your bookmarks.

April 14, 2000 -- Added a tribute page to one of the founders of this site Dennis Rainer who recently died.

January 22, 2000 -- Minor updating such as copyright and taking down the issue page until it has some content.

November 3, 1999 -- Added a stats tracker for members to see who has been visiting the site. The Issue section is still not complete but we are taking submissions. Submission forms do work.

October 17, 1999 -- The iHumanism website debuts. Everything is new. Site is still being finished but is open enough for visitors.

October 10, 1999 -- Human_ism list created
